Turkey pot pie is the perfect easy recipe to make for the whole family. Not only are the hefty portions ideal for feeding a larger group during your nightly family dinner or a special occasion when you are hosting guests, it is tasty, too!

Take the prep time down, and make this recipe with ease by using a can of Werling and Sons’ in your pot pie. In this recipe from Food Network, we suggest canned turkey, but you can also substitute canned chicken as a delicious alternative.
The first step is to make sure you have all the ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 5 oz can of Werling’s Canned Turkey
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 3 small carrots, chopped
- 4 tablespoons flour
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 small potatoes, peeled and diced
- 2 tablespoon parsley, chopped
- ½ cup peas
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 refrigerated pie crust
Once you have your ingredients handy, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
While you are waiting for the oven to heat up, melt the butter in a saucepan and stir in the onion, celery and carrots until tender. Next add flour and cook for approximately 2 minutes while stirring continuously. Once the mixture has thickened, add the chicken broth and bring it to a simmer, then cook the potatoes until they are tender. Finally, stir in the canned turkey, parsley and peas.
After all the ingredients are thoroughly heated and mixed, pour the entire mixture into a 9-by-13 rectangular casserole dish. You may also choose to use a pie pan instead.
Top your chosen dish with the refrigerated pie crust and pinch the edges around the dish, removing any excess dough. Brush the top of the crust with the egg and bake the pot pie for approximately 30 minutes until the crust glows golden brown.
Once cooled, serve your yummy creation. This recipe will easily serve your whole family with leftovers to spare!
